good morning everyone! a couple of days ago my aunt dropped by and gave my all her knitting tools as she didn’t use them anymore. i’m so lucky! she also gave me some knitting books from the 70s. it was very interesting to see how different two of the books were allthough they were written almost at the same time. the one in picture 3 is called hønsestrik, the direct translation is chicken knitting. it’s an independent book release from 1973 talking about a liberation of both men and women from traditions and norms of knitting as everyone should feel free to knit whatever they felt like. i particularly like the photo of the guy called torben knitting in his office and a small detail on the front cover, the little kid picking his nose.

the other book is from a women’s magazine from 1971 (three last photos) and the models look completely different in this book. a lot more high society and nuclear family feel.

today is a national holiday in denmark so i’m just going to relax and take in easy. i hope you get to do the same - have a great friday!

some random photos from the apartment i took today. i feel like breaking my habit when it comes to taking photos. i always tend to take very static and no-people-in-sight photos (well you probably have noticed by now). : ) i really want to expand my photographic vision and choice of subject..we’ll see how it goes!

i have been feeling a bit off balance for a couple of days. i have tomorrow off, so i’m hoping that a relaxing day will do me good. thanks for your comments lately and also great to hear from new readers! here’s a couple of more photos from my most recent film.

it’s the most beautiful sunshine today, so i started the day with a nice little walk around my neighbourhood. spring makes me long for a garden. i find working with plants such a relaxing thing to do. my substitute garden you can see in the second photo, i have been planting herbs - basil, coriander, rosmary and thyme, my favorites. i know that having them indoors probably means they won’t live very long but that’s okay.

oh almost forgot to mention the baby hats in the last picture. i found some nice alpaca yarn a while ago and i’m not sure i can ever go back. it’s incredibly soft and very nice to work with. anyway after making the two first hats i had to make another two with this yarn. i put two small pom poms on the blue one, never knew knitting could be so much fun - it’s a whole new world to me : )

copenhagen photo festival is coming up and i’m looking forward! the festival will present both significant danish and international contemporary photographers, spread out across the city with exhibitions in art institutions, galleries and urban spaces. it runs from may 12th – 20th starting with the main exhibition day & night on may 12th.

from tomorrow and until the end of the festival there’s also a photo competition, where everyone can contribute with their own pictures of copenhagen. one taken during the day and one at night, with the chance of winning a canon EOS 550 D - i sure wouldn’t mind : )

i know i’ve said it before, but i just can’t get enough of the colors and depth of film photography. more photos from the easter holiday.

horray, i got a film back today - another lightleaked contax film, but this time with less light leaks. on closer inspection i found that the camera house had in fact a crack on the side (i’m sure a result of my rough treatment). i gaffa taped it to prevent light leaking in, but it seems it didn’t do the job. oh well, a good thing i actually like light leaks : ). the photos are from our easter holiday on the island samsø.
