the old museum building

the new museum entrance

did i ever show you these photos? some weeks ago i visited a museum on the mainland called HEART herning museum of contemporary art. the museum recently moved into a new building designed by the american architect Steven Holl. i quite liked it, and especially the interior space which had a more organic feel to it.

i hope you are having a beautiful saturday and thanks again for all the congratulations wishes!

field trip

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

NE and i went on a field trip to the area called kalvebod fælled. a sort of heath area close to ørestaden a fairly new part of copenhagen. i keep getting fascinated by the weird meeting of urbanisation and nature in this area. it looks so strange with a giant building complex in the middle of nowhere (third photo). you can read more about the building called 8tallet (in english number 8) here

pictures from a walk today in a desolate industrial area not too far from where we live. such a strange place. i’ll show you some more photos tomorrow.

ML 2090

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

on the art gallery trip sunday we also went to see the exhibition ML 2090 in nikolaj copenhagen contemporary art center. a very fascinating exhibition by the artist ismar cirkinagic. the totalitarian architecture his installation portrays is said to be inspired by george orwell’s science fiction novel 1984. the ‘ML’ in the title of the project stands for ministry of love, another reference to orwell’s book. the full scale section of the imagined ministry of love made quite the impression, but also the small model i really liked. there’s just something spectacular (and a little bit scary!) about this type of architecture, even on a small scale.

the second last photo is taken in another gallery and is dedicated to NE who has an almost unhealthy interest in robot vacuum cleaners. yep that’s the round thing next to the sofa. it even looks like it’s color coordinated with the sofa. neat!

elevator towers

Sunday, November 1st, 2009

have i ever shown you these photos before? they are taken a long time ago, before i started blogging. i have been clearing out in my photo archive today and came across these photos of a building site. it just looks so dramatic with the elevator towers standing in raw concrete as the future core of the building. at least i think they are elevator towers..could be something else.

wishing you all a great sunday! i’ll answer your sweet comments tomorrow!

architecture up close

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

i thought i was going to do my weekword contribution today but ended up rearranging my blog design all day…there’s birds in the header now, no weird free floating dots in the sidebar and the photos are bigger - because bigger is better! after having seen on other blogs how changing the image size really gives another viewing experience i desided to make my photos bigger too. ahh feels good with a summer blog cleaning.

urban changes

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

the road next to our street is in a state of change these days. broken up asphalt and dirt piles have shanged the scenery into what looks like an emergency zone. it’s funny how changes in the urban landscape make people behave differently and use the space in a different way. yesterday i saw two men sitting late at night in the middle of the road on two road block stones having a lively conversation and the corner café are now using the asphalt-less road as part of their outdoor serving area. funny thing…

tomorrow i’ll have another yashica film developed and i will probably be posting some of the photos tomorrow also.

- rynke: thanks! i did feel pretty lucky that day, having all these nice new things : )
- susannromy: thanks susi, how exiting you are also getting new ones! looking forward to see them! it simply is easier to cut it yourself but the result is not always all that successful for my part ; )
- lotte: nej man kan ikke ønske sig mere! måske at det var lidt mindre varmt (men det er næsten kriminelt at brokke sig)
- nathalie: thank you nathalie, happy to know you like them…at first they felt really big because the ones i had before was a lot smaller, but i’m getting used to it now.
- kinako: yeah me too, i’m hoping that there will be lots of photo opportunities. hehe fun that you also cut your own hair..i like the challenge in it, but i’m sure that a professional hairdresser would not approve of it : )
- kristina: ah jeg elsker det svenske ord “glasögon” lyder så fint. håber i får en god tur til berlin!!
- thereza and epe: thanks guys!

prague: architecture

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

the architecture in prague is very diverse and covers just about every architectural style i can think of. i really like this about prague and couldn’t stop looking up at the constantly changing architecture as we walked around. you can see more prague architecture photos on my flickr page

as i have seen done on other blogs i will try and reply to your comments in the most recent post and see how that works

jenna: thanks jenna : ) there is just something about heavy architecture like the new terminal - too much and kind of nice at the same time

Caroline: blade runner is one of my favorite movies and being in that terminal really felt like being in a blade runner setting

anna: yeah the contrast between the two stations was quite extreme - glad you like them!

prague: the new terminal

so here’s the photos from the newer terminal. it looks like something out of blade runner i think. it was very run down but still impressive looking

prague: old train station

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

kristian

we stumbled upon prague’s old train station more or less by coincidence. it really is a beautiful building which is now a café by the name of the czech architect who designed the station Josef Fanta (fanta’s cafe)

i’ll post the photos from the newer station later today. hope you are having a great tuesday!
