bottom drawer treasures

Friday, July 31st, 2009

ending the week with some pictures from three womens magazines i found in my bottom drawer. not sure how i got them but what stylish and elegant women! - not to mention the little boy in his navy style outfit. they are all from the 50s and two of the magazine brands are still published today. happy weekend everybody!

- nathalie: yeah you are absolutely right - they have the distance of one wing between them : ) it seems like bicycle theft is very very common in any major city - but it’s such a shame! a happy weekend to you too.
- irene: hello irene! thanks for your comment! so nice to hear from new readers : )
- kristi: hi kristi and thanks, glad to know you like the photos! i hope to find myself a new bike very soon, as i feel almost legless without one : )
- epe: thanks! i like that second one the best also.
- parisa mahmoudi: thank you parisa : )
- alexandra hedberg: well actually i have more than two ; ) but two new ones, i really like the texture and warm color tones of analogue photos. i’m considering to get a good photo scanner, so i can bring the cost down a little bit.
- ulrika: hi ulrika, thanks for your kind words! happy to know you like my blog!
- alice: yeah, it really is annoying when your means of transportation vanishes…luckily i could borrow one from NE’s sister. sorry to hear you tried to visit during the server breakdown - i’m really exited about these new cameras. think i will exersice them this coming sunday!
- sigga: i lige måde : )
- thereza: i know! two! happy you liked the snail mail! but what a shame with the bend on the print…hope it’s not too bad. NE says thanks for the birthday wishes : )

do seagulls need personal space?

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

it appears to be the case! last night when NE, his sister sigga and i were walking home after having eaten the most delicious indian food we passed these seagulls who were settling in for the night on a pipe. as you can see they all have almost exactly the same distance between them. kind of made me smile.

yesterday was also the day when my bike got stolen. really don’t like when that happens! i’m considering now whether i should just get an old one or buy a new one that is more likely to get stolen…

note: there has been some problems with my blog server today - haven’t been able to access it before just now.

- nathalie: yeah, i really like the lens cases too! about the birds - it seems like my grandmother was just as fond of birds as i am…actually my mother is too…strange thing
- anna: i was so happy to find this zeiss ikon lens! i think i will mount i on the yashica and see what happens
- kinako: thanks!
- ida: : )
- yukes: yeah they really look cool…but are a little heavy. i can really recommend trying analogue photography, so much fun - only downside is that it is rather expensive.
- sandra: thanks sandra! the happy birthday wishes are passed on ; )
- paula: thank you paula, i feel pretty lucky i can tell you - to have found great cameras in trift stores
- kristina: i look forward as well!

another camera

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

well actually two! as i mentioned yesterday (i love cliffhangers) i bought a new analogue camera because it was just such a good deal. i found a contax 139 quartz slr camera which comes mounted with a carl zeiss planar 1,7/50 lens. i couldn’t believe my luck as these carl zeis lenses are supposed to be really good - another great thing about this lens is that its also compatible with my yashica camera and that it only cost about 4 euros. there’s nothing like a good bargain!

last time NE and i visited his father and stepmother he donated us his old fujica st 705 slr camera, along with a lot of different lenses. i can’t wait to try out these new cameras! the middle photo is of some birds made by my grandmother. i really like them but don’t know what to do with them yet.

today is NE’s birthday and we are going out for dinner later and will probably also catch a movie - nice!

- thereza: thanks! the one on the left might be a little to 70’s i think but along with the other one it’s okay.
- parisa: thank you!
- anna: thanks anna! glad you like it - you have changed yours also right? but a while ago - i like the simplicity and clean look!
- sine: hej sine! tak for din kommentar. så hyggeligt at høre fra andre danske bloggere : ) tak for linket, sitet har mange fine puder man kunne overveje!

a new sofa needs…

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

it needs cushions! now that we have a dark brown sofa, it seems like you need some brightly colored cushions. the one on the left used to belong to my grandparents and the one on the right i bought today second hand. i really like the cross stitch pattern and the delicate light greens in it.

i also got another analogue camera in the thrift store today - couldn’t help myself, it was too much of a bargain. i’ll show you tomorrow. thanks for all your sofa comments!

- ai, karin, mette, kinako, thereza, kristi, kristina, lola and sandra: thank you girls! so glad you like it. i was a little bit concerned at first if the color would be to heavy but it’s just perfect. so nice to get a piece of furniture like this one.
- gracia: thank you! and yeah a string of outtakes tend to form a story of their own. at this very moment i am lying on the couch typing i think you are right about the couch bringing much joy : )
- nathalie: thanks nathalie - i love that about it as well - the simplicity of the design. and about the egg cups - i just had to buy them, so cute with those little legs.
- thereza: thank you : ) just something universally cute and funny about penguins.
- charlotte: hello charlotte! it is a classic indeed - now i just need to find myself a small table to go along with it : )
- caramela: yeah they sure had great taste! actually wooden floorboards are pretty common in copenhagen appartments. it really gives a nice atmosphere i think. a great day to you also annamaria!
ps: about the graffiti shot - you are so right, you seldom see graffiti on glass, but it looks nice how the light shines through it.
- susi: thanks susi, i think so too, only thing is now that i need a new sofa table but i hope i can find a second hand one that fits the sofa well.
- young: ja, har lavet bloggen om, glad for at høre du kan lide make over’en ; )
- maria: thanks! i just had to have those egg cups, also bought two in pale yellow. what a shame you can’t go with your boyfriend to berlin!
- anna: hello anna, and welcome back! happy to know you like the swallows! berlin was full of great and inspiring street art, and this stencil really caught my eye.
- anairam: thank you so much for the award anairam! i’m honoured. didn’t know that word “celadon”, thanks for teaching me a new word : ) i really liked that red and white table cloth - i’m trying to find one like it here in copenhagen.
- cecilie: tak cecilie : ) også min yndlingsfarve
- fanny: hello fanny! thanks, yeah there’s just something about berlin!
- yukes: thank you. the vintage shop was so colorful - i didn’t find a skirt that fit me, but those fabrics were so nice
- epe: thanks epe : ) have a great week or half week as it is almost wednesday
- kinako: hey, can understand why you thought sake cups : ) glad you like the photos!
- e: hehe yes, those are some fast little birds : )
- sigga: tak skal du have sigga : )

berlin outtakes

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

here are some of the photos from berlin that i couldn’t quite fit into a post. the top one showing the egg cups i bought in berlin. second and third taken in a cafe in prinzlauer berg. the fourth photo is taken in a huge vintage clothing shop. they had the prettiest vintage clothes i have ever seen…also a bit expensive. the last two photos are from a squatted building we visited. have a great saturday night everybody!

- caramela: you are welcome! and thanks!
- asiye: thank you, glad to know you like the drawing. i’m a huge penguin fan myself
- ne: yep fast little bugger ; )
- anairam: thanks anairam! about the 30 seconds, tried to picture in my head how long it would take it to hop across the ice floes. interesting fact about simon’s town’s penguin colony. so you actually get to see them in the wild. cool.

weekword

Friday, July 24th, 2009

it’s weekword time again! as you may know i desided to do a penguin drawing for my postcard project. i have altered it slightly to make it into this weeks weekword contribution. explanatory text: it takes a small penguin about 30 seconds to walk the distance of three big ice floes.

go to anairam’s blog to see the other participants.

note: you can follow the progress of the bird postcard project and see previous postcards here

have a great weekend everyone!

when it starts and ends well…

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

i really really like eating eggs in the morning, but it feels like too much of a luxury on weekdays…well today was an exeption as you can see. my friend stine came around in the evening and we had a nice pasta salad with chorizo, feta cheese, rocket salad, pine nuts, tomato and red peppers. very nice. tomorrow is weekword time and anairam came up with the word TIME…looking forward! i’ll answer your comments tomorrow also.

note: the table cloth is an old one i bought second hand but only started using recently.
