today is the day after yesterdays opening in brinja’s shop. it went well and a lot of friends came by. now i sit in the sofa looking at all the beautiful flowers i got and feel lucky (arranged them all on the bookshelf for the photo occation). i’ll show you some pictures from the opening soon…have a good saturday.
here are some of the things i brought back from my stay in shanghai. most of them are typical china souvenirs…i like them anyway.
before i got my digital SLR camera i was fully dedicated to taking film and developing pictures in a dark room. at some point i used the bathroom where i lived as dark room but later on i found a place where i could rent a dark room, which i think my roommates appriciated. these images were taken on my trip to shanghai in 2006. i really liked being in the dark room completely shot off from the world and only focusing on the developing. but it was also a very slow process and now i can’t imagine going back.
yesterday i went to visit my friend luise at her art school. she showed me her recent projects and they all looked great. both humoristic, interesting and beautiful. i especially like the little characters with strings attached in the cardboard house and the collage figures mounted on the wall…well i like the human anatomy guillotine too which basically means i like all of it!

forgot to show you this photo from my snowy saturday night adventure. there’s something funny about the perspective. the building looks a bit like an ocean liner i think ploughing through the snow.
a couple of more photos from the exhibition. it’s kind of hard to photograph it well because of the reflecting light, so i have added two of the images in this post that has been altered slightly. the ever changing mushroom illustration now has a different colour and a small path has been added from one mushroom house to the other. the legless bird which was mint green before is now yellow but still legless…
oh almost forgot to mention - we are having a small opening on friday from 5 - 7 pm in brinja’s shop, islands brygge 21. you are most welcome blogreaders!…i guess only relevant for those of you who live in the copenhagen area. there will be wine and canapés of some sort.
as i mentioned saturday was the big day when brinja’s shop went through a drastic transformation with at new wall colour and my illustrations were mounted on the wall. brinja and anders painted the walls and meanwhile i framed the pictures and tried to arrange them somehow on the floor. more friends came along and helped with the mounting. there’s still some small ajustments to do tomorrow, so only a small peak now and more photos to come later.
last night i was very tired and ready to hit the bed at 9 pm. NE suggested that we took a walk in the neighbourhood as the snow was falling and eluminating the dark streets. it really was beautiful in the snow + darkness + artificial light kind of way. for me the beauty of a snowy landscape is hard to beat, but city snow has a charm of its own.
this friday night started out with beers at the faculties of political science where NE studies. afterwards we were invited to dinner at his sister brinja’s house and we had the best food ever. today we hung the pictures on the wall in brinja’s shop. i’ll show you the pictures tomorrow!
