sweden is a beautiful country! i knew it already but i was surprised by its beauty none the less. i wish i had photos to show you of the rocky landscape, blooming trees, forest streams and charming wood houses but i hardy took any pictures on our bicycle trip because of the simple fact that my camera was stored away a little to well in my bicycle bag.

a lesson learned till next time. hope you had a lovely weekend!

kiev - warsaw

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

late saturday we came home from our two week bicycle trip from kiev to warsaw. it was a both hard, exciting and eye opening experience to travel by bike through parts of ukraine and later poland.

we took a train out of kiev as the heat there was extreme (the photo of NE in our kiev hostel room says it all).

ukraine was a challenging country to travel in by bike as there were few food stores, no one who spoke english, only signs in cyrillic and poor roads. this being said ukraine was also full of beautiful nature and we met some very sweet and friendly people there: a couple who led us stay for the night in their house and a woman who served us the best home cooked meal when we needed it the most.

more photos to come tomorrow!

field trip

NE and i went on a field trip to the area called kalvebod fælled. a sort of heath area close to ørestaden a fairly new part of copenhagen. i keep getting fascinated by the weird meeting of urbanisation and nature in this area. it looks so strange with a giant building complex in the middle of nowhere (third photo). you can read more about the building called 8tallet (in english number 8) here
