ich bin ein berliner

photos of people (and animals) seen on the streets of berlin. in general i don’t take that many “people photos” but it has become a bit easier for me now to overcome my shyness about taking pictures of people in the street as the new lens is a 50 mm it brings you closer to the object so to speak. it’s a canon ef 50mm 1.8 II lens and it’s very light and compact compared to my old lens. i have read though that allthough you get good quality for money it is not a very durable lens (plastic) and that it breaks easily..for my part it was mostly a money issue and that’s why i picked a rather cheap lens. more photos to come tomorrow.

- rynke: thanks rynke! i like the red in them as well, but as NE mentioned the first one doesn’t look much like berlin : ). i had to seek cover during one of the heavy showers of rain and went into an asian supermarket. the lens is called canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II

i hear only good things about that lens. i was tempted to get one myself, too, but i have 30mm (though it’s HEAVY) so opted not to in the end. your photos with the lens look great.

oh i’m so envious you’ve been in berlin :)
i have that same lens, i love that it is so light to carry around, hardly ever use any other lenses just because i’ve been spoiled. hope you’re having fun with yours!
