train

pictures from the old and stylish train/hostel we stayed in. so neat with these really small compartments where every inch is used in the best possible way.

lund:autumn

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

more photos from our small trip to lund, these ones came out in much warmer tones as the sun started shining in the afternoon. we stayed at a rather special place called “tåget” / “the train” which was an old night train parked at a track by the train station and now functioning as hostel. i’ll show you photos from the train later today!

by the way, i’m sorry none of these photos really say that much about lund, but my photos of the traditional cobblestone streets with sweet brick houses and from the cathedral didn’t turn out so well…so i’ve only got fragments of lund to show.

have a great wednesday folks!

- anairam:
thanks anairam : ) i agree on the leaves thing, the ultimate autumn/winter image that makes you want to drink hot tea and wear wolly scarfs - spot on!
- sekimachihato: actually these houses were not typical of lund. most of the houses were old brick houses in cosy cobblestone streets, but all my photos from the old part of lund didn’t turn out well. but i agree these are some rather neat modern houses.
- lorenza: thanks! i kind of like the white bike as well : ) it was a surprise to me that the bikes in lund look a lot different from the ones in denmark, more retro and 80s like. very nice bikes!
- sigga: tak sigga, glad for at høre du kunne li’ de grå billeder!
- nathalie: thank you nathalie. i really like muted tones/grey light as well sometimes, creates a whole different atmosphere.

back from lund

Monday, September 14th, 2009

hello everybody! we came home yesterday afternoon from a great trip to lund. a very short holiday (24 hours basically) : ) but we had a good time!

lund is such a charming university city. i’m coming back for sure. the weather was dim and grey when we got there - resulting in greyish photos, but some of them with nice muted tones. later the sun came out and the photo conditions changed dramatically. i’ll show you some of the more colorful and sunny ones tomorrow!

- ai: thanks ai, we had a very nice trip to lund. fun story about those two you met in louisiana and yes i do feel silly carrying around to slrs : ). more than once i asked myself why i brought two with me as the yashica is really heavy. but then again, it was nice to have both options at hand.
- esti: hello esti : ) the weather is so unpredictable here these days, but you are right being in a beautiful botanical garden, grey skies look good as well
- julochka: thanks, these are my favorite shoes at the moment…i don’t have that many shoes and when i have a favorite pair i tend to wear them ALL the time : ) saw your photos from legoland - it looked cosy! i remember legoland being so exiting as a child, “gold” washing being the favorite activity. hehe
- kristina: thanks! glad you like the botanical garden photos. i would have loved to meet for a coffee in lund! must do that next time, when hopefully i will know where we are going a little bit sooner : ) i hope you have recovered from the cold!
- epe: thank you epe, i did have a great time in sweden
- lorenza: me too, old greenhouses are so beautiful! hope you had a great weekend as well!
- sandra: hey, would have loved to meet you for fika in gothenburg! gothenburg is on my “must visit at some point” list, maybe we can have a coffee then.
- hanna: oh you are going to copenhagen…funnily enough i can’t think of any favorite cafes or shops right now : ) i’ll write a comment on your blog later when my memory is back!
- máni: yeah it’s so calm and relaxing in these gardens! it would be fun to visit the berlin one together!
- nathalie, chelsea and paula: thank you girls!
- line: thanks for your comment line and sweet words - hope your weekend was great also!
- rynke: yeah you must GO THERE : )
- trinsch: hey me too, i haven’t had much time for reading blogs and i’m only just catching up these days. happy to know you liked the previous posts about busdrivers and light switches etc. : )

- sekimachihato: hehe, that might be a good part of the reason, didn’t actually notice what type of car it was - but i could tell it was an expensive one!
- alexandria: thank you so much! it wasn’t very hard to find the evidence i needed!

- sekimachihato: me too! love those red colors and the mild but still colder weather. i remember playing with those mini-helicopters as well : )
- pip Lincolne: thanks! and you are right, it does look a little like a picnic blanket. no autumn picnic without tea : )
- anna: thanks

- sigga: tak skal du ha ; )

- nathalie: thanks! and i agree, a happy busdriver makes the ride so much more pleasant!
- pip lincolne: hello pip lincolne! thank you for your comments. my brother and i cooked a very delicious noodle dish, very simple recipe that included chicken, ginger, spring onions, chilipepper, garlic, soy sauce, lemon juice and fresh coriander all mixed with noodles…it was a new dish to me but i will definately make it again!
- fanny: hi fanny : ) yes it does lift your mood when people suddenly and unexpectedly express happiness. happy to know you like the light switch photo!
- alice: thank you alice. i agree! all busdrivers should be like that - well at least on mondays ; ) i look forward to read your bus story!
- kristina: you too - hope your tuesday was great!
- kristi: thank you kristi!
- kristina: yeah i think that was probably the reason, he wanted to be the best busdriver possible. tak, ja det er sådan en enkel og virkningsfuld installation.

happy busdriver

Monday, September 7th, 2009

today i experienced a happy busdriver. it’s not often you experience happy bus drivers in copenhagen and i guess mondays especially it can be hard to find any. this guy wished all passengers a very good day and told busdriver jokes along the way. he even said “and a very nice day also to those of you who don’t speak danish”. i couldn’t help but wonder what had made the busdriver this happy….maybe he just won the lottery or maybe he had just become a dad…or maybe he was just happy for no particular reason.

i’m going to visit my brother tonight. he lives three blocks away. we are going to cook something..don’t know what yet.

the photos from Louisiana and from our bedroom where a picture of the light switch is hanging next to the light switch. i’m in a hurry, so i’ll reply to your comments tomorrow - have a great monday night!

this week and weekend

Sunday, September 6th, 2009

this week and weekend has been marked by celebration and dinners and lovely guests. yesterday NE sisters - sigga and brinja threw him a surprise party to celebrate the fact that he had handed in his thesis. i had to make sure we were late for the party (i’m a natural at this) as everyone needed to get there first. it was a great surprise!

thank you so much for all your advice about good crime fiction writers - i was overwhelmed by all your comments! i’m going to make a list and take it to the library as soon as possible.

oh and by the way take a look at these beautiful yashica photos taken by anna/the baker’s daughter

- sandra: thanks for the tip! i will add roslund & hellström to my list
- ritva: i know, looks like midnight blue to me but the picture was taken in the afternoon
- gracia: thank you gracia - the seasons are rapidly changing here! fun to think about that you are going through the opposite change, towards warmer weather and bright light. i tend to do both as well, read and watch my fellow train passengers and the landscape passing : )
- dakota: hello dakota! i am well thank you, but also busy these days which means less time for blogging…
- lorenza: yes it is such a beautiful train journey! harry potter is a good suggestion, i really liked the films so will probably like the books as well!
- hanna: i saw the movie as well, before i read the books. its funny that i haven’t read any agatha christie…don’t know how that happened. thanks for the recommendation hanna!
- anna: oh didn’t know that you can also get his books in the states, but then it has been such a massive succes so why not! let me know if you think of something : )
- epe: yes i like them a lot, of course they are very crime fiction like - you know, not very deep, but so so exiting to read! i can fully recommend them.
- kristina: thank you kristina! i love inspector rebus, but i have only seen the tv series, but i’m sure i would like the books as well! that praktica of yours looks to be a great camera!
- julochka: thanks for the recommendation, i will add karen fossum to the list. really was a shame that stieg larsson died! would have loved to read more of his books

replies to “special occation + special mail”

- rynke: yeah me too!
- trinsch: yes, they are very pretty. can understand why you long a little for fall…but then i will probably long for summer soon when it gets dark and rainy here : )
- fanny: yeah, yellow is such a happy color!
- sekimachihato: i feel the same way, i have new gloves/wrist worms and now i only need somewhere cold to use them : ) wow 33 degrees is hot!
- anna: thanks anna!
- ai: you have the same ones! how fun! yeah i see your point about the hand shot, it gives a special effect with the blurriness around the fingers
- julochka: yep, they are
- sandra: those wrist worms are just perfect, happy to know you like my floor arrangement of them..it always seems like the best light is just under the window so thats why i often photograph things there.

replies to “saturday!”

- anairam:
i agree, so interesting when you suddenly see the similarities between languages. didn’t think about it when i posted this photo, but is is quite similar to english
- outi: hehe : ) glad you like the photos!
- kristi: yeah it’s a little mean. think it is because there’s algea in the these ponds. but yes it is also typical for denmark with a lot of rules and signs.
- sigga: tak : )
- anna: thank you anna, i wish i had more time for blogging these days, but i guess its varies from time to time
- chelsea: hey, you got it right! and i agree, it’s good fun!
